Basic Shop Stewards Course

This is a five day orientation programme for shop stewards. It covers the basics of trade unionism and the roles and responsibilities of shop stewards.

Individual union block bookings can be made and materials can be tailored to include union or sector specific issues. This is a non credit bearing programme but can assist in gaining access to other accredited offerings of the Workers’ College.

Based on a Level 4 ETDP unit standard.

Introduction to unions

Union constitutions

Roles and responsibilities of the shop steward

Mandates and representation

Organising and mobilising workers

Duration 5 days

Minimum 20 participants

Cost: R1500 per participant

First course 3-7/4/2017
